The MacLean Family

The MacLean Family and the MacLean Center
The MacLean Center was founded by Dr. Mark Siegler in 1984 with the generous gift of his longtime patient, Dorothy Jean MacLean. D.J. MacLean, as she was known to family and friends, was committed to education and to the importance of clinical medical ethics. She believed that education was the best way to improve the world, and throughout her life she supported many leading educational institutions. D.J.’s son, Barry MacLean subsequently became a major contributor to the Center. For 25 years, Barry and the late Mary Ann MacLean served as co-chairs of the Center’s Advisory Board and active contributors to the work of the Center.
